F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Do you allow drop off or pickup outside of your listed business hours?
A.  AM hrs. are 7:30-10; PM hrs. are 5-6:30.  We are closed promptly at 10 AM and 6:30 PM for drops and pickups.  Always call if you are running late.  After 6:30 PM any visiting dogs are considered boarding guests.  Arriving or departing outside of designated hrs. must be approved and incurs a $35 fee.

Q. What vaccinations do you require?
A. Howling Hill documents proof of the following vaccines
Rabies
Distemper (DHPP)
Bordetella Vaccine (kennel cough)
Please bring proof of current vaccines and we can make a copy here for your dog's file.

Q. What should I send with my dog for his boarding stay?
A. FOOD:  It is best to send your own dogs food while boarding.  If your dog is staying 6 nights or less please pre-bag the portions plus a few extra servings.  If your dog is staying 7 nights or more, you may choose to send pre-bagged portions or a full large bag (20lbs.+) of your dog's food.  Of course, if your dog runs out of food we will feed them the high quality food we have here, there is a fee of $2 per meal for Howling Hill food.  Complicated diets are fine, but please portion them out as much as possible and provide written instructions.
BELONGINGS: There is no need to send beds, blankets or toys from home.  We have more than enough of our own to make your dog comfortable, too many belongings from home make it hard to keep track of things, and we never like sending home torn bedding.
MEDICATION: Don't forget your dog's medications, we will talk about administration and write it down at check in.

Q. How old should my dog be to be boarded?
A. A pup should be more than 12 weeks old.  We don't have a puppy playgroup, so with dogs this young we can evaluate based on the puppy whether they are ready for group play.  At 15-16 weeks most pups seem good to go!

Q. Does Howling Hill provide food for dog guests?
A. It is best to send your own dogs food for daycare lunch and boarding meals.  Daycare guests are welcome to leave a supply of food for lunches.  Pre bagged portions plus a few extra servings when boarding are encouraged to be sure your dog has enough food while you are away.  Of course, if your dog runs out of food we will feed them the high quality food we have here, there is a fee of $2 per meal for Howling Hill food.

Q. Do you accept non-social dogs?
A. Not typically.  You may call to see if there is extra room to arrange for your dog to have his own space.  Your dog should be comfortable sharing play areas, toys and water dishes with most other
dogs.  Dogs with any history of aggression towards humans will not be permitted to visit.

Q. Do you charge for cancelled boarding reservations?
A. Yes, on some holidays.  A credit/debit card will be kept on file and in the case of a cancellation the following fees will be collected:
New Year's Eve- one night of your reservation will be charged upon cancellation
July 4th- one night of your reservation will be charged upon cancellation
Thanksgiving- one night of your reservation will be charged upon cancellation
Christmas- two nights of your reservation will be charged upon cancellation (Christmas Eve and Christmas night)
Q. Do you accept un neutered and unspayed dogs?
A. Un neutered males, yes.  Unspayed females will not be permitted to join any common groups in the play yards.  Females must be spayed if over 6 months old in order to join in group play.

Q. Do you administer medications?
A. Yes, at no charge.

Q. Do you have a grooming service?
A. No full grooms.  But we can provide a bath, brush and blow dry.
