Making Mud Season...Fun. Let's Play Barn Hunt!

With all of the melting going on this time of year, I am thinking lots of happy paws and lots of mud. One way I have tackled the mess is by putting down hay until everything dries out.  But I think maybe I can take it one fun step further and set up the play yard as a hay maze or a Barn Hunt.  Have you heard of this super fun dog sport?  Here is the run down about Barn Hunts!!

Taken from Barnhunt.com

Barn Hunt is a fun and exciting new dog sport. In Barn Hunt, dogs hunt for rats hidden in a straw bale maze. It's a timed event, with levels of difficulty from Novice to Master. There will be ribbons, placements, and titles. Fun tests are already being held across the country and there is tremendous interest.  Barn Hunt opens this fun sport  up to any dog, of any size, type, breed or mix that can fit through an 18″ wide through approximately 22″ high tunnel.

Of course at Howling Hill we won't be using rules or RATS!  But I am sure we will have a ton of fun using our toys and imaginations with our doggie friends!  Wow, now I am actually excited for some mud, I think?!

In the meantime, if you think a Barn Hunt is a dog sport that you might like to try with your pup, check out the link above.  They have a calendar and there may be something going on in our area in the future!
