Howling Hill Dog Boarding Welcomes Fall & Winter

Howling Hill Dog Boarding is excited for the cool air months ahead!  Lots of reservations are coming in- all over the calendar even into December and January- 2017!!  There are lots of holidays coming up so get your pup's reservation in as soon as you have the dates sorted out.

New customers- please be aware that kennel tours may not be available in these coming months since it is not always conducive to a busy kennel schedule.  Strangers walking through resting quarters of a full kennel adds stress to my visitors day.  Instead of settling into a familiar daily routine, it keeps the dogs wondering if it is their turn to go home.  Last minute kennel tours cannot be given.  However, last minute reservations are always welcome.

Howling Hill is excited to care for your dog while you are away.  Your dog will be kept entertained and cozy this Winter.  Scheduled playtimes throughout the day with friendly social doggie friends, and warm resting quarters with bedding and blankets for naptime and overnight.  Please go over all of the information on the pages of this website and provide current shot records and your dogs own diet upon arrival.  Call and leave a message or send an email with questions and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please take note that every visit to Howling Hill is considered an appointment.  If you need to drop off your pup or pick them up please let me know when you will be here.  When I do not have any appointments scheduled I just go about my dog chore routine, I do not open up the office and Howling Hill is considered closed.  The drop off and pick up hours are:
Monday thru Friday  7:30-10 AM and 5-6:30 PM
Saturday  7:30-10 AM only
Sunday   5-6:30 PM only
If you would like to see the kennel or meet me and ask questions, please call 207-272-7917 to make an appointment.

Please remember that when visiting Howling Hill you are also visiting my families home.  We deserve a certain level of privacy, as do the dogs that are visiting.
Please do not arrive unannounced.
Please call, text or email when your plans change.
Please do not walk around our yard.
Please do not walk around and behind the fenced dog yards, and do not peek over the fencing or between spaces in the privacy screens.
Please do not peek into the kennel building window.
Do not ever let yourself into any play yard or my kennel building.
Please keep your children with you.
Please keep your dog on a leash or in your car until I am ready for them.  I will be right with you as soon as I can.
If you are waiting at the office and I am not visible, please do not look for me in the kennel or the play yards.  Do not come to my home and look for me.  If you have an appointment, I should be right along.  Please call me on the phone if you need me
207-272-7917.  Honking your horn to get my attention is also fine by me!
When office hours are over, Howling Hill is promptly CLOSED.  If you need to arrange an off hours drop off or pick up, it is to be scheduled and there is a fee of $35.

Most of this information and more can be found on these web pages.  Always feel free to call with any questions.  And, always feel free to call and check on your dogs while they are boarding at Howling Hill.  Please enjoy the photos on my Howling Hill Dog Boarding Facebook page.

Happy April!! Vacation Time is Coming!

I am very excited to kick off the busiest time of the year at Howling Hill with a super April Vacation crew!  I already have several pups on the calendar this April which is great.  Since there are more reservations coming in already as compared to this time last year, I would like to encourage you to get your dogs on the calendar soon.

When a busy holiday or vacation week creates the risk of turning families away because I am full, I need to implement the cancellation policy.  This April 2016, the policy will cover the dates of Friday April 15, 2016 thru Sunday April 24, 2016.  If your dog's stay falls between those dates, at the time of the reservation we will complete a credit card form to be kept on file.  (Some guests already have one on file.)  If you cancel your reservation your card will be charged the fees equaling half of the total reserved stay.  If your stay was scheduled for one night only, than you will be charged the total fees for that reserved night.

Thank you for understanding!  See you soon!

I am looking forward to spreading some Christmas Cheer by offering a couple of complimentary surprises for you and your dog!  First, I will capture your furry pup in an adorable Christmas picture to be featured on Howling Hill's Facebook page, and I would be happy to email you a copy of your own!  Also, I have been making up our holiday flavored frozen Kong treats. This Christmas they are plain yogurt flavored with mint and parsley, layered with a surprise of cranberry and beef puree in the middle- yum!   I would like to surprise our guests with one at naptime on Christmas Day!  If you would like for your dog to enjoy additional frozen Kong snacks, you may order them at drop off for $2/Kong.  And Third, we will be having our doggie Christmas present raffle for all boarding guests staying over Christmas.  Each boarding guest will get one entry, and the winner of the present will be drawn on Christmas Eve.  And I shouldn't forget, all of our guests will go home with a cute fleecy holiday neck bandana to show off this winter!

I love sending your doggies home soft, clean and yummy smelling.  To keep things festive, this year I am using an organic berry scented oatmeal shampoo- you will love it!  Don't forget to schedule an exit bath for  your dog before they go home- only $12!

It is such a pleasure keeping things fun around the kennel and online- so stay tuned to Howling Hill Dog Boarding's Facebook page for more giveways and surprises that may pop up before the New Year!

Wishing you a magical Holiday Season and a wonderful New Year!

This is a Lifestyle! And that is what makes Howling Hill Dog Boarding different.

Howling Hill Dog Boarding is a small capacity kennel that is family owned and operated right here in our yard.  Because of this, when you bring your dogs to stay at Howling Hill you know that they are going to become familiar with their caretaker and develop a relationship of trust with us.  Our visitors become familiar with the dog friendly surroundings and the routine, and are able to settle in pretty quickly upon arrival.  We live right here on the premises, so we are able to keep an ear and eye on them through the night.

Howling Hill is tucked away privately in the woods. Up on our hill, surrounded by pine trees and a brook, a quiet, peaceful, perfect Maine setting.  Howling Hill is different from other boarding programs in that we provide dog boarding with a full day of play and activities for your dog.  At Howling Hill the environment is designed to let a dog be a dog!  That means the pups are allowed to run, jump, play, dig, get dirty and wet, play with lots of toys and fun dog playground equipment...they really just get to let loose while you are away.  If you sign your dog up for leashed walks, they will be happy to explore the many trails through the woods, swim in the clean, cold brook, or even discover the thousands of jumping fish at our beautiful Fish Hatchery down the road.  We are lucky to live and run our kennel in a true doggie paradise!

Many people have asked- do you ever have a day off?  When do you get a vacation?  Well, we manage to squeeze in a lot during our down days.  And when we got our first couple of sled dogs 14 yrs ago, we were happy to commit everyday to living, thinking, and loving dogs!  This is truly Lifestyle choice, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Hope to see you and your fuzzy buddy soon.  Love, Jessica
